About Me
My name is Sharleen Stratton and have been a part of Australia's National Senior Diving Team for the last five years. I compete in three specific events: Women's 3m Springboard, Women's 3m Synchronised Springboard and Women's 1m Springboard. I represent my club, Donnet Diving, and the Australian Institute of Sport to the best of my ability at every competition I compete in. My coach is Hui Tong and I have been under his amazing instruction since 2003.
I was born on the 9th October 1987 in Brisbane, Queensland and grew up in Tom Price, Western Australia. I am 157cm tall and have been training and competeing at an elite level since moving back to Brisbane at the end of 1997 where I was taken into the Gymnastics programme at Chandler. Towards the end of 2000 I no longer had a passion for Gymnastics and made the decision not to continue investing time in it after I suffered from a couple of unfortunate injuries. However, shortly after my retirement from Gymnastics I was accepted into the elite diving arena at Chandler and I haven't looked back since. Diving is my passion!
My family is very tight knit and are very important to me. My Dad, Murray Stratton, my Mum, Jean Stratton, my sister Creina Woods and my boyfriend Jarrad Wren have always been very supportive of everything I do and I can't live without them or my friends.
My role model is Chinese Diver Guo Jing Jing because she is an amazing diver and a beautiful person and I admire her as an athlete and a person. My favourite sporting team is of course the Austrlaian Diving Team, they are an amazing bunch of people and are very hard working. On a lighter note, my favourite movies are Just Married, Bench Warmers, Step Brothers, Superbad and Napoleon Dynamite. My favourite television shows are Grey's Anatomy, House and Family Guy. I like a wide variety of music and my favourite foods are chocolate and gelato. I also love the drink Milo. My favourite quote is "think you can, think you can’t - either way your right!" I would like to be remember as a good competitor who is very dedicated and hard working and my ultimate goal in diving is to win an Olympic Gold Medal for Australia!
I train 30 hours a week at Chandler to achieve my goal and I live fairly close to the centre as I need to be at training early. I am also completing a Certificate III in Beauty Therapy and have already completed a Certificate III in Fitness Instruction. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, shopping and hanging out with my friends and to relax I enjoy a lie on the beach or a massage. I am currently recovering from surgery on my shoulder where they shaved the bone to remove the Arthritis I have been suffering from for the last two years.
Finally, I want to thank YOU for all the wonderful support you have offered me. The fact that you are reading this is very important to me and I appreciate you investing your time in me.
